About The Position

The firm is seeking an adaptable, highly reliable Conveyancing Paralegal to join an established East London law firm as a dedicated, full-time remote team member based in South Africa or the Philippines. The firm handles approximately 100 residential conveyancing matters per month and is creating a flexible offshore resource to support multiple fee earners, reduce departmental pressure, and maintain service continuity. Under UK supervision, the paralegal will take ownership of routine and post-completion work across the department and help progress active caseloads during workload peaks or staff leave. The role covers residential sales, purchases, remortgages, and transfers of equity. Duties include ordering and reviewing property searches, logging onboarding and compliance documents, preparing standard conveyancing documents, handling post-completion work, responding to Land Registry requisitions, progressing files, and communicating with UK colleagues and external parties. The position is remote and works UK business hours, with holidays aligned to UK public holidays.

Requirements

  • Direct, practical residential conveyancing experience under the law of England and Wales; general South African or Philippine legal qualifications without UK conveyancing experience are insufficient.
  • Thorough knowledge of the full UK conveyancing lifecycle, from file opening, search ordering, and contract drafting through exchange, completion, and post-completion.
  • Proven ability to independently handle AP1 Land Registry submissions, SDLT filings, and requisitions.
  • Confidence using legal case management systems and keeping digital audit trails up to date.
  • Adaptability and willingness to provide administrative support across multiple team members, including routine tasks.
  • Clear, articulate spoken and written English suitable for professional collaboration with UK legal teams and third parties.

Responsibilities

  • Provide floating operational support across multiple fee earners' sales, purchase, remortgage, and transfer-of-equity files.
  • Order, track, and conduct initial reviews of local authority, environmental, and drainage searches.
  • Log onboarding compliance documents, including KYC/AML and TA forms.
  • Prepare standard contracts, TR1 transfers of title, property questionnaires, and mortgage documentation under UK fee-earner guidance.
  • Own department-wide post-completion duties, including preparing completion statements, drafting and submitting SDLT returns, and submitting Land Registry AP1 applications.
  • Monitor and respond to Land Registry requisitions promptly to support clear title registration.
  • Progress active conveyancing files under supervision during fee-earner absences or workload peaks.
  • Communicate professionally with UK colleagues, estate agents, lenders, redemption departments, and opposing conveyancers.
  • Maintain digital audit trails in legal case management systems.
