Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to mechanical machinery.
  • Exposure to lean tools such as 5S, Root Cause/Corrective Actions, Standardized Work, KPI’s, Daily Management System (Visual).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and drive accountability within the team.
  • Aptitude for math, problem-solving, computers, and mechanics.
  • Attention to detail and good color vision.
  • Ability to work and communicate well with others.
  • Ability to map the basic production processes and associated risks.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day activities on the production floor to ensure a safe and clean environment.
  • Ensure operators have adequate materials and supplies.
  • Monitor product flow smoothly to and from each process.
  • Meet daily production targets.
  • Ensure 5S standards are met and act as the 5S champion for the group.
  • Drive safety, quality, continuous improvement, associate development, team engagement, and operating results for the assigned area.
  • Train team members, set daily resource strategy, and monitor progress towards team goals.
  • Implement and enforce established Safety and Quality policies.
  • Act as a resource for team members and escalate issues or process disruptions to maximize productivity.
  • Coach Operators in best practices to drive a safe and productive culture and improve employee engagement.
  • Assist the Supervisor with driving safety throughout the production floor.
  • Instill a "safety first" mindset within the group.
  • Train, coach, and hold employees accountable for maintaining area standards (5S, standardized work, waste/risk observation).
  • Provide specific feedback, coaching, and guidance with positive reinforcement.
  • Identify opportunities for coaching through Gemba walks including metric/visual management review.
  • Act as a problem solver on the floor using Root Cause Corrective Action methodologies.
  • Perform production duties and fill-in as required for absenteeism and vacation.
  • Drive 5S principles and support continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain process parameters and appropriate records.
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment, making minor adjustments as needed.
  • Ensure effective Shift Handoffs that support housekeeping, productivity, and critical information pass-down.
  • Own the daily schedule and manage resources to produce required results.
  • Confirm production orders and resolve COGI (inventory) errors within SAP, escalating unresolved issues.
  • Ensure Metric Boards are filled out and up-to-date, escalating repeat disruptors.
  • Coordinate with Material Handlers and Clamp Drivers on raw material replenishment and finished goods staging and put-away.
  • Drive daily TPM efforts with operators and maintenance.
  • Escalate issues in a timely and appropriate manner with relevant background information and facts.
  • Schedule time efficiently to accomplish assigned tasks and spend sufficient time directly engaging with the team.
  • Demonstrate adherence to leadership standardized work (LSW) and consistently review/amend LSW.
  • Assign team members based on production need and attendance at the start of each shift.
  • Instill a sense of urgency in the team to reach and maintain productivity and quality targets.
