About The Position

Pregis is seeking a Converting Supervisor for the 2nd shift at their Grand Rapids, MI location. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Converting production area, providing direct supervision to production employees. The supervisor will plan daily work schedules, determine priorities, allocate work assignments, and regulate the production process to meet daily production requirements. They will also evaluate employee performance, provide feedback, and utilize corrective action to resolve conflicts and inappropriate behaviors. Requirements

5+ years of progressive experience in plant operations
2+ years of management experience
Basic understanding of lean manufacturing
Ability to motivate others

Responsibilities

Provides appropriate training and instructions to employees on standard and new operating procedures.
Ensures a safe working environment through formal inspections, correcting unsafe behaviors, safety meetings, and utilizing proper work methods, procedures and equipment.
Interviews, hires, trains, terminates, disciplines, and coaches employees.
Coaches and develops team members.
Monitors employee performance, conducts performance reviews, motivates team members, and creates strategies to boost engagement and productivity.
Ensures effective training of team members.
Works in accordance with Pregis safety guidelines.
Drives improvements and enhancements to plant safety programs.
Ensures plant housekeeping meets established standards.
Leads successful implementation of continuous improvement projects.
Improves product quality and reduction of process scrap.
Improves plant productivity through enhanced operating processes and workflow.
Serves as a conduit for communication between employees and management and between departments.
Works with Production Manager to ensure production schedule is properly planned and customer expectations are met.
Maintains and approves employee schedules and time off requests.
Works cooperatively with all departments to ensure expectations are met.
