About The Position

Amcor is hiring a Converting Operator to safely support the converting department in producing high-quality packaging products while meeting customer specifications and production requirements. Through hands-on experience and training programs, the employee can develop skills, cross-train in multiple areas, and grow into a Machine Operator role. The position works either a 12-hour straight night shift from 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM or a 12-hour straight day shift from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM on a 2-2-3 schedule. The role involves supporting safety, quality, and continuous improvement; inspecting materials and finished products; performing quality checks and documenting production; assisting with machine setups; and carrying out basic troubleshooting. The operator is expected to follow customer and manufacturing specifications, maintain product safety and cleanliness, and work with urgency and minimal supervision.

Requirements

Previous manufacturing and machine operation experience.
Experience performing quality checks and interpreting results to maintain product specifications.
Basic computer skills and ability to learn production systems and software.
Math, measurement, and reading skills.
Ability to perform detailed visual inspections using measurement devices.
Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand for long periods and perform climbing, crouching, and reaching tasks.

Responsibilities

Act as a safety leader and promote a safety-first culture.
Support and participate in department process-improvement and safety initiatives.
Communicate safety concerns, risks, and quality issues to leadership and team members.

Read, understand, and follow finishing specifications and customer requirements.
Inspect materials for quality, accuracy, and defects, and report discrepancies immediately.
Perform Quality Assurance checks using the AIMS quality dashboard.
Locate and use inspection methods and testing requirements within AIMS.
Use electronic SOC deviation forms when operating outside standard parameters.
Collect, retain, and properly label required product samples.
Assist with machine setups as directed by technicians or leads.
Perform basic troubleshooting when possible.
Complete required production and quality documentation accurately.
Maintain product safety and cleanliness requirements.
Follow job jackets, manufacturing, customer, and print specifications, work instructions, job aids, OPLs, process alerts, SOCs, and AIMS dashboard information.
Take ownership of professional development and training.
Perform work with a sense of urgency and minimal supervision.
