About The Position

Moore-Tulsa Print and Mail Center, a leader in the Direct Mail/print industry, is seeking qualified and talented individuals to join their award-winning team. They are currently looking for a Conventional Prepress Technician to join their Team. The training shift is Day shift Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, but the position hours are Night Shift Monday-Friday 3pm-11pm.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of the Macintosh and Windows operating systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • A general understanding of printing would be helpful.
  • Required to stand and move about the facility constantly (walk long distances).
  • Strong work ethic and good attendance record is a MUST!
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to spot errors, inconsistencies, and quality issues in files and proofs.
  • Ability to communicate in English, read, write, and understand and to effectively use in proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as work instructions, safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment, SOPs, time sheets, daily production reports, dockets, job tickets, etc.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic procedures in standard practice practical applications, read and use a ruler.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to work any shift, weekends or overtime as needed.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Kodak Prinergy, Screen Equios, Heidelberg Prinect and EFI Fiery software a plus.
  • Computer experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring quality proofs and layouts in the prepress department before they are sent to customer.
  • Loading plates into plate setters.
  • Staging processed plates for press operators.
  • Trimming, folding and verifying proofs measurements and accuracy.
  • Understanding job ticket information to determine quantity, special work instructions, and any other special customer requirements.
  • Reading press schedule, job ticket, VPS and all other furnished specifications in detail to determine order in which jobs are plated and what size plate is used.
  • Questioning all discrepancies or oddities in instructions.
  • Reviewing images produced on plate for defects or errors that will manifest during the printing process.
  • Performing monthly routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Verifying all job information to ensure that correct plates are being used; checking plates for quality and repairing any flaws.
  • Verifying all job information to ensure that correct proofs are being made; checking proofs for quality and reporting any problems.
  • Completing proofs for customer approval including trimming, folding, proofing, etc.
  • Filling out proof slips/tags and affixing them to proofs.
  • Keeping supervisor informed of any problems, i.e. supplies, equipment, etc.
  • Responsible for the overall cleanliness and housekeeping of the work area including sweeping/mopping, dusting and trash/recyclable removal.
  • Troubleshooting issues relating to plates, platesetters, proofs, etc.
  • Handling plates with care while delivering them to the presses.
  • Adhering to and promoting all safety policies and procedures including but not limited to the proper handling of hazardous waste, lock out-tag out rules and hearing and eye protection policies.
  • Ensuring quality checklists and paperwork are complete and correct.
  • Working overtime as needed/required.
  • Performing all assigned duties.
