This is a great opportunity for a Controls Technician in Rochester, NY at Arxada Rochester produces biocides and personal care ingredients for the hygiene, preservation and personal care markets. This Position will support plant control and power systems, including all instrumentation, PLCs, HMIs, power distribution, freeze protection, and variable frequency drives (VFDs). This role will also provide training and support to maintenance, contractors, and engineering teams to enhance operational efficiency, troubleshoot plant issues, and ensure regulatory and jurisdictional compliance.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 3 years’ experience in manufacturing
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to train and mentor others.
  • Must be able to follow instructions from engineers and others.
  • Need to clearly convey problems to engineers.

Nice To Haves

  • Assoc degree in Electrical, Controls or Instrumentation (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Understand, follow, and support company policies, procedures in addition to corporate and local safety initiatives.
  • Be proactive with safety, including anticipating unsafe behaviors, conditions, and unusual circumstances.
  • Serve as a technical resource for the Rochester Site.
  • Identify hardware and software needed to provide solutions to problems.
  • Provide after-hours support when necessary.
  • Assist in developing and commissioning engineering projects, ensuring all control systems, including instrumentation and VFDs, are functioning correctly.
  • Ensure proper operation of as well as identify and troubleshoot issues pertaining to SCADA systems.
  • Train and support plant personnel on control systems, electrical distribution, and instrumentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and jurisdictional regulations, including NFPA 70 standards and industry best practices.
  • Maintain relevant licenses.
  • Evaluate onsite contractor activities related to the field of expertise.
  • Acquire and maintain a class three stationary engineer's license and other required skills for supporting the maintenance department.
  • Continually evaluate new technologies or skills that may bring benefits to the facility.
