About The Position

This position will provide support labor to an existing crew of field personnel, assisting the Project Management team in completing building automation and temperature control projects. Interns will observe and participate in multiple projects or one large project with diverse work, gaining a clear picture of the life of a Controls Technician. Interns are viewed as entry-level, junior "controls technicians" and will work with experienced Controls Technicians. Opportunities will be provided to work on point-to-point controller checkouts, terminal equipment startup and checkout, and other tasks to increase knowledge and skills. A mentor, who is a manager or experienced technician, will oversee the intern's day-to-day workload and performance. Work duties can include delivery of equipment and materials, on-site labor assistance, and general duties as directed by the senior project manager, all contributing to task completion and employee learning. The role continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company assets. It requires flexibility to work overtime and weekends as the business requires, displaying team effort and dedication to the customer. The internship offers valuable skills learned while working with professionals in the building automation field.

Requirements

  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Enrolled or to be enrolled in a technical program.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software.
  • Working proficiency with hand held computer (i.e. smartphone, iPad).
  • Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: DUI, Hit and Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
  • This position requires working in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, precarious places and risk of electrical shock.
  • This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping and kneeling.
  • Requires employees to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.

  • HVAC/EMS focus preferred but not mandatory.
