Position Summary: Assigned a mentor who will direct their summer, co-op or school year work experience. Work or project assignments will be commensurate with the student's academic background to take advantage of their technical expertise and provide real life application of their classroom knowledge. At the same time, opportunities will be provided for students to expand their knowledge outside the boundaries of their classroom experiences. Typical roles our Mechatronics or Interns could consist of Process Mechatronics (building and programming control systems), Operations/Production Mechatronics (troubleshooting production equipment control issues), or Project Management roles. Ensures compliance with BD quality systems, policies, procedures and best practices, and all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. Regular, punctual attendance is an essential job function. Ability to read and write and converse in English. Willing and able to uphold BD Values.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in college mechatronics (or equivalent) programs required.
  • Completion of Freshman year preferred.
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Possess or currently pursuing a degree in an Mechatronics or equivalent field required
  • Available to work a minimum of eight continuous weeks in the summer
  • Must be willing to work in any of our Columbus manufacturing locations
  • Motivated to learn about a high speed automated manufacturing floor
  • PLC, Servo, and Vision Programming (Allen Bradley Brand experience preferred)
  • Fabrication, automation, & industrial experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide support in a fast paced, high volume manufacturing environment
  • Troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Work with a mentor on project assignments which are commensurate with academic background
  • Work with a mentor on project assignments outside of classroom curriculum to gain experience
  • Apply classroom knowledge to real life applications while using technical expertise
  • Other duties as required to support the needs of the business
