Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years in industrial automation or controls engineering.
  • Expertise in Rockwell Automation or Siemens environments.
  • Safety PLC programming and ISO 13849 compliance.
  • Industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Link-IO).
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 79 standards.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills and analyze/resolve problems.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Previous experience working with machine controls, either on the job training or schooling, is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Designing electrical control systems (schematics, panel layouts, I/O wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical).
  • Designing hydraulic and pneumatic circuits for machine functionality.
  • Developing PLC and HMI software (Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 or Siemens TIA Portal).
  • Selecting and integrating sensors, VFDs, servo motors, vision systems, and safety components.
  • Leading commissioning and debug phases at plant and customer sites (~25% travel).
  • Managing small to medium projects, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Authoring comprehensive Operator and Maintenance manuals for customer handoff.
  • Troubleshoot, modify, and program PLCs and HMIs.
  • Support manufacturing with installation and start-up of controls systems on new machines.
  • Layout, build, wire, install, and troubleshoot electrical control panels, junction boxes, limit switches, sensors, motors (AC/DC), conduit, and other electrical components.
  • Wire new machines and equipment with the latest electrical controls and components.
  • Interpret and modify Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs and HMIs.
  • Start-Up machines in shop prior to shipping to customer and at customers location.
