About The Position

The Sr. Controls System Engineer will provide automation controls leadership and support the designs, programs, tests, and commissions of automated systems (PLCs, HMIs, robotics) for complex industrial processes. They will lead projects from concept to deployment, managing vendors, ensuring safety standards compliance, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating cross functionally to improve efficiency to meet business goals. They bridge electrical/mechanical/software domains, focusing on system integration, reliability, and continuous enhancement in real-time manufacturing environments.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience working controls systems in manufacturing environments
  • Considerable experience with logic development using PLCs to solve complex problems in industrial control.
  • Experience with industrial HMI systems
  • Bachelor’s in electrical, Controls or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Food industry or CPG experience in Electrical Control/Automation.

Responsibilities

  • Write and modify PLC, HMI, code; develop algorithms and control strategies.
  • Create and maintain technical documents, schematics, redlines, and training materials.
  • Develop control system architectures, select hardware, design electrical schematics, and create functional specifications.
  • Lead onsite installation, calibration, loop checks, functional testing, and troubleshooting. Perform Factory/Site Acceptance Tests (FAT/SAT).
  • Manage project scope, budget, schedule, vendors, and internal resources.
  • Analyze system performance (cycle time, yield) and implement enhancements.
  • Develop controls standards, ensure adherence to safety norms (NFPA, UL), and maintain version control for programs.
