StellantisAuburn Hills, MI

About The Position

Stellantis’ Vehicle and Propulsion Controls organization is seeking a Controls Systems Engineer to define and deliver end-to-end propulsion system architecture, spanning Design, development, defining requirements for controls strategy, EE architecture, and physical system implementation for next-generation powertrain technologies. The role is responsible for translating vehicle-level feature requirements into robust, scalable architecture solutions, ensuring alignment across software, hardware, controls, and physical integration domains. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, cross-functional environment, solving complex technical challenges and driving integration across global teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Controls Engineering
  • 1+ years of experience in propulsion controls / systems engineering
  • Good domain knowledge in: Engine / Hybrid / BEV control systems, Control algorithms and system behavior, Requirements engineering and system architecture

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Controls, Systems, or Automotive Engineering
  • Experience with: MATLAB/Simulink modeling and controls development, MBSE (SysML, Rhapsody, Cameo), DOORS, ALM, PLM (ENOVIA)
  • Knowledge of: CAN /LIN/Ethernet communication protocols, Functional safety (ISO 26262), ASPICE / Stellantis SE processes

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain operational, functional, and constructional system architecture
  • Define system concepts, use cases, and operational scenarios
  • Perform functional decomposition and allocation to subsystems/components
  • Define end-to-end propulsion system architecture (functional + physical)
  • Participate in definition of propulsion control strategies
  • Support requirements decomposition and system modeling (SysML / MBSE)
  • Define component allocation across ECU, sensors, actuators, and subsystems
  • Develop physical architecture artifacts (SEDs, topology, interface definitions, EE architecture and network topology)
  • Analyze the Functional Objectives related features to determine feasibility of design and provide feedback to Vehicle team.
  • Design and Develop the feature design and requirements for all assigned features.
  • Design and Develop the DFMEA for all features assigned to team.
