About The Position

Fleetwood Metal Industries, a division of Cleveland-Cliffs Tooling and Stamping has an immediate opportunity for a Controls Specialist Industrial Electrician in our Otterville, Ontario. The Controls Specialist Industrial Electrician is responsible for continuously improving automated systems to increase equipment efficiency in high-throughput operations as well as preventative and reactive maintenance. The ideal candidate will have prior controls experience, be self-motivated and thrive in a fast-paced work environment. Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in engineering, instrumentation, process control or electronics
  • 442A or 309A ticket
  • Ability/certified to operate Aerial Lift
  • Ability to learn and retain knowledge regarding Robot programming and PLCs
  • Detail-oriented and good manual dexterity in use of mechanical machines and instruments
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time/ lift 23 kg (50 lbs)
  • 3 years of relevant experience related to industrial process automation
  • Ability to prepare technical documentation such as shop drawings, operating manuals, training manuals, equipment reports, and employee assessments
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to lead and mentor Jr. associates; exercise a strong sense of teamwork

Nice To Haves

  • 10 years of relevant experience related to industrial process automation
  • Degree or Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution

Responsibilities

  • Provide maintenance support to all areas ensuring that both machines and facilities are maintained to operate in a safe and efficient manner
  • Improve electrical processes to minimize disruption/downtime of production
  • Safely install and maintain electrical machinery and equipment
  • Perform repairs to machinery and plant support systems: hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical, drives, bearings, and gears
  • Read, interpret, and alter electrical schematics to ease in troubleshooting electrical and electronic systems to ensure proper operation
  • Participate in the implementation of continuous improvement through thorough documentation updates
  • Comply with and demonstrate an understanding of mechanical and electrical prints
  • Support Maintenance Management by communicating effectively and providing guidance to both the Electrical and Automation Teams
  • Execute industrial mechanical knowledge of process automation, PLC programming, HMI improvements and robotic operations
  • Ensure functional design specifications are understood and successfully delivered on time and within budget
  • Involvement in new project engineering and controls programming
  • Utilize lean-manufacturing principles by improving process capability, reducing overall costs, and increasing capacity
