Industrial Controls Electrician

Novolex CorporateCarrollton, TX

About The Position

Novolex is a recognized innovator in packaging, offering a broad portfolio across paper, plastic, and advanced sustainable materials for customers in foodservice, retail, healthcare, and industrial markets. Our sustainability vision rests on three pillars—products, operations, and people. These pillars guide our initiatives and fuel our growth as we pursue ambitious environmental and business goals. A Day in This Role You arrive to a fast-paced manufacturing floor where uptime matters. First, you scan the CMMS to review work orders and parts inventory. A line reports an intermittent fault—within minutes, you’re tracing signals from the HMI back through a PLC routine, verifying VFD parameters, and checking a 4–20 mA loop for drift. Before lunch, you bend conduit for a new sensor install, pull and terminate feed wires at 120/277/480 VAC, and document everything. In the afternoon, you bench-repair a temperature control module, red‑tag a non-repairable component for replacement, and collaborate with engineering to adjust a process step so product specs are met on the next run.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance certification, or 3+ years as an industrial electrician with mechanical aptitude; direct manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical power and wiring systems including 120/277/480 VAC and 3‑phase.
  • Hands‑on PLC experience; Allen‑Bradley and RSLogix preferred.
  • Background with VFDs, DC, and servo drives.
  • Process control proficiency: 4–20 mA loops, positioning feedback, and analog control strategies.
  • Experience with temperature control systems.
  • Deep understanding of industrial electrical maintenance practices.
  • Exposure to hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial electrical and electronic control systems to maximize production uptime.
  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance, upgrades, new equipment installations, and facility electrical work; record activities and parts usage in the CMMS.
  • Diagnose hardware and software issues on PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, AC/DC drives, temperature control devices, and computer-based systems.
  • Program and set up equipment so manufacturing processes achieve required product specifications.
  • Assist in developing and revising manufacturing work instructions and process flow documentation.
  • Create, modify, or troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and VFD programs (including changes and transfers) as needed.
  • Assemble, disassemble, and maintain manual and automated electro‑mechanical production machinery using schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instructions.
  • Run and bend conduit, mount boxes, pull feeders, and complete terminations to specification.
  • Conduct bench diagnostics and repairs on offline parts and equipment; test and restock repaired items or red‑tag and escalate for replacement/third‑party repair.
  • Work safely, accurately, and independently under pressure to keep equipment operating.
