About The Position

TRANSITIONING SERVICE MEMBERS ONLY AS PART OF THE DOW SKILLBRIDGE PROGRAM To offer eligible Service Members currently approved to participate in the DoW SkillBridge program the opportunity to gain first-hand experience and insight into Navy Federal’s business, technology, resources, and procedures by providing support in focused areas, applying knowledge and education. Participate in a collaborative, team driven network, and interact with multiple departments. Utilize and further develop technical and soft skills, business knowledge, analytical techniques, and creative problem-solving abilities. Provide professional execution of day-to-day tasks and special projects while working within established standards, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in commercial building HVAC and/or Electrical systems operation and maintenance that includes a working knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Working knowledge of automated building window shading systems and electronics
  • Advanced knowledge of local, state and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) as it pertains to workplace essentials involving equipment/system maintenance and a working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC)
  • Advanced knowledge of the tools, mathematics, codes, materials and safety regulations associated with the electrical trade
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member
  • Ability to read, modify and program all required sequences into graphical programming language
  • Working knowledge of the operation of Central Chiller Plants to include: variable primary, variable secondary, coupled, decoupled, and cooling tower operation
  • Recognized training or equivalent experience in control theory, psychometrics, end devices, and sensors
  • Working knowledge of BACnet and TCP/IP networking
  • Effective skill in the use of personal computers and associated productivity software
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, make sound, effective decisions, and manage resources effectively

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC, Control Systems, and/or Electrical maintenance
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience programming and maintenance of Trane Tracer and/or Automated Logic systems
  • Demonstrated experience in the installation, start-up, maintenance, and programming of BAS systems
  • Effective skill to read and interpret work schedules and directions, blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings and manufacturer manuals
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Effective planning, analysis, and organizational skills
  • Vocational Training Certificate in a related field or an Associate in Applied Science degree in a related field

Responsibilities

  • Compile and analyze operational data for efficiency studies, energy usage and assist in the implementation of system strategies to maximize Building Automation Systems (BAS) performance, effectiveness and cost savings
  • Perform programming and system configuration changes and environmental system control adjustments through the use of multiple computer based software applications
  • Collaborate with leadership in the operation, maintenance scheduling, repair, and installation of the specialized mechanical and electrical control/monitoring systems
  • Initiate resolution of routine emergency and non-emergency issues affecting operations critical to the safe operation of campus facilities; escalate to leadership as necessary
  • Perform maintenance on equipment with the following Electrical system voltages: 5-48 volt AC/DC, 120, 277-480 volt AC (associated with control panels and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) maintenance)
  • Provide recommendations for upgrades/changes to improve system performance
  • Serve as subject matter expert and provide technical guidance to staff in other associated trades (Electrical Services and Mechanical Services) as needed
  • Ensure Business Continuity Plan is enforced by maintaining workstations and archiving all system databases for disaster recovery
  • Collaborate with mechanical contractors to reduce system outage times during construction phases
  • Act as the assistant project manager and site supervisor for in-house and contracted control system projects; conduct job analysis to determine the scope of each project and any required safety considerations
  • Complete FM Systems service orders as assigned
  • Ensure compliance with Navy Federal, local, state and federal regulatory guidelines pertaining to electrical systems through ongoing research and documentation; implement policy and procedure updates resulting from regulatory/policy changes
  • Troubleshoot and diagnosing system issues or inefficiencies including maintenance needs; refer to operational, maintenance and repair manuals, system schematics, updating each as needed
  • Participates in the procurement of materials for assigned projects
  • Oversee inventory of spare parts and instrumentation for system repair and calibration
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or appropriate
