About The Position

As a Controls Service Technician Intern, you will support field operations by assisting experienced technicians and team leaders with building automation systems (BMS) testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting. You will gain hands-on experience diagnosing system issues, supporting equipment repairs, and ensuring building systems operate efficiently and reliably.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a 2-year technical degree
  • Basic understanding of HVAC systems, controls, or building automation systems (BMS)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and safety standards in a field environment
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a hands-on, dynamic environment

Responsibilities

  • Perform direct field labor under the guidance of Team Leaders and Managers, focusing on safety, quality, and customer impact
  • Support diagnostic and repair services for building automation systems (BMS), from basic troubleshooting to intermediate system protocols
  • Assist with testing, maintenance, and performance verification of HVAC control systems
  • Identify and help resolve system malfunctions by applying troubleshooting techniques and technical knowledge
  • Partner with experienced technicians to learn repair standards and best practices
  • Contribute to operational and maintenance (O&M) activities as needed
  • Demonstrate accountability by following proper procedures, documenting work clearly, and prioritizing safe outcomes
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure efficient service delivery and a positive customer experience
  • Continuously build technical skills and knowledge through hands-on learning and mentorship
