The Controls Hardware Design Engineer III is responsible for providing controls hardware design for turnkey custom automation equipment. This role involves working independently on larger or high complexity projects, and potentially training new or less senior engineers. The engineer will set technical direction for others on complex projects and perform peer reviews. Key responsibilities include reviewing customer requirements, proposals, cost estimates, and regulatory requirements, as well as attending mechanical design reviews to ensure controls and safety requirements are met. The role also involves translating mechanical engineering device lists into controls hardware designs using AutoCad Electrical, developing new symbols and circuits as needed, and creating various schematics (AC/DC power, safety, industrial network, device, I/O, fluid power) and control enclosure layouts. The engineer will also generate Bills of Materials, interact with build personnel, and assist with electrical and fluid power debugging throughout the project lifecycle. Maintaining a clean work area, observing safety procedures, and performing other assigned duties are also part of the role.
