About The Position

Daifuku Airport America Corporation is seeking a Controls Field Engineer to provide onsite expertise for operating the Baggage Handling System (BHS) along with the operational and maintenance teams at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). The role involves troubleshooting and supporting Daifuku's advanced automated materials handling systems, specifically the BHS at SEA. The engineer will be trained in Daifuku's standards and designs for the SEA projects to effectively identify and resolve issues. This is a world-class leader in design, build, and installation of large scale, airport baggage conveyor security systems.

Requirements

  • BSEE, E.T. or relevant technical degree, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in industrial automation controls design and commissioning (preferred).
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC ControlLogix programming (preferred).
  • Experience with material handling equipment (preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to remain stationary for 50% of the time; move/traverse throughout the office to access file cabinets and office equipment; operate a computer and other productivity machinery; inspect documents; communicate with others through talking/hearing; read/identify/assess forms and correspondence.
  • While on job sites, must be able to walk airports and plants and remain standing for most of the shift.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of experience in industrial automation controls design and commissioning.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC ControlLogix programming.
  • Experience with material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret electrical/PLC control systems including device/layout drawings; motor control panel drawings; and wiring schematics.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting of PLC based hardware and software.
  • Understand control system functionalities.
  • Configure (for replacements), troubleshoot, and repair: sensors, scanners, visualization systems, motors, frequency inverters and encoders.
  • Be available for peak times, weekends, nights, or holidays as required by the customer.
  • Provide a dedicated onsite Controls Engineer to support BHS startup and operations support.
  • Make programming modifications when requested or as needed.
  • Monitor BHS health and make changes as needed.
  • Work with the Port of Seattle maintenance team and provide system improvement recommendations.
  • Coordinate and elevate BHS concerns and changes with Daifuku’s home office engineering team.
