The Controls Project Engineering Intern will be responsible for acquiring skills related to automation systems (BAS) design, installation, programming, and process improvement. This position reports directly and has duties assigned by the Controls Engineering Team Leader. Additional responsibilities pertaining to controls engineering and controls projects may be assigned at the discretion of the Controls Engineering Team Leader.

Requirements

  • Actively obtaining either an Engineering degree (BSME or BSEE preferred) or HVAC Technical degree.
  • Understanding of basic programming, and low voltage circuit design and theory.
  • Ability to pass drug screening
  • Ability to prove US employment eligibility
  • A valid drivers license

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Visio Design software preferred, or equivalent experience utilizing CAD design software.
  • Basic programming experience preferred.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Word, and Excel.
  • This position entails continual learning of current, legacy, and future building automation system controls components.

Responsibilities

  • Gain knowledge of Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration systems.
  • Understand and implement principles of basic Controls Engineering design processes, including system flow diagram drafting, end device selection, control device wiring design, and authoring sequence of operations.
  • Complete Controls Project As-builts.
  • Learn basics of BACnet, Modbus, Lonworks, and Network communication protocols.
  • Shadow Controls Engineers, Controls Technicians, either in office or at project job sites.
  • Learn basic controller, and system supervisor programming including Tracer TU, and Niagara Workbench.
  • Assist with or complete controller panel building either in office or at project sites as directed by the Controls Engineering Team Leader.
  • Develop methods of designing control panel schematics.
  • Provide exceptional customer service for internal and external customers.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, legal regulations, and recommended best practices.
  • Collaborate with all Associates to uphold the company’s mission and values.
