Controls Engineering - Fluid Power - Engineer II

Gleason•Rochester, NY
•$80,000 - $95,000

About The Position

The Fluid Power Controls Engineer designs, develops, maintains, documents, and troubleshoots pneumatic, hydraulic, lubrication, and coolant control systems for gear manufacturing machines. The role provides engineering support for multi-axis machines and works across Electrical Controls, Mechanical, Software, Applications Engineering, Proposals, Sales, Project Management, Assembly Methods, and other internal and external groups to develop and deliver machine designs that meet customer requirements, safety standards, cost, and schedule constraints. The engineer creates system schematics and bills of materials, models components and systems, maintains schematic and BOM masters for current and legacy machines, and develops custom fluid power designs with appropriately sized components. The role incorporates customer specifications and applicable US or international design and safety standards, coordinates with fluid power suppliers, and supports part specification changes and assembly documentation. It also addresses engineering issues, facilitates design reviews, FMEAs, and risk management meetings, responds to information requests, and contributes to process improvement and work instructions. This position is based in an office environment. Travel requirements are negligible. The stated physical demands include occasional standing, walking, sitting, use of hands, talking, hearing, and lifting or moving up to 25 pounds. The work environment may occasionally include exposure to moving mechanical parts, with usually moderate noise.
