About The Position

DPP is seeking a Controls Engineer for a career opportunity in North Carolina. This role involves designing, developing, and implementing control systems (logic software and hardware) to meet process system requirements. Responsibilities include developing schematics, detailing control system configurations and wiring, and designing equipment panel layouts using AutoCAD. The engineer will also develop Sequence of Operation documents, lead design reviews, perform system checkout and start-up at customer sites, and provide final system documentation and training. The position focuses on automation and control system integration projects across various industries, including manufacturing and data center building automation. The role will act as a technical lead, guiding junior engineers and technicians, and may manage smaller projects ($50K-$250K) including developing implementation plans, assigning work, creating schedules, evaluating progress, managing purchasing and subcontractor requirements, and developing costs and change orders.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering Required (Electrical Engineering is preferred)
  • 3-10 years of experience
  • An in-depth understanding of control systems, components, logic programming, experience with instrumentation, and controls design
  • SCADA (ie. Rockwell, Inductive Automation, AVEVA Wonderware) and PLC systems (i.e. Allen Bradley, Siemens) required
  • Strong inter-personnel skills
  • Ability to communicate and work with team members, subcontractors, and clients
  • Ability to travel up to 30%

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with DeltaV, AutoCAD, Fanuc, Keyence/Cognex Vision Systems are also desired

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement control system (logic software and hardware) to meet process system requirements
  • Develop schematics detailing control system configuration and wiring, and design equipment panel layouts on AutoCAD software
  • Develop Sequence of Operation document detailing control strategies for the process under control
  • Lead design reviews with customer for review and approval of design documents
  • Work at customer site to perform the system checkout and start-up of the integrated control system
  • Develop the final record system documentation and provide system training to the customer
  • Act as technical lead on projects and guide lower-level engineers and technicians
  • Act as Project Manager on smaller projects ranging from $50K to $250K
  • Develop and execute implementation plans for the project
  • Assign work to meet overall project deadlines
  • Ensure that all project team members clearly understand the scope of responsibilities
  • Develop schedules for client and customer requirements
  • Evaluate progress on project and details changes
  • Responsible for all purchasing and subcontractor requirements
  • Responsible for development of costs and proposal of change orders to contract scope
