About The Position

The Controls Systems Engineer is an Individual contributor with recognized expertise responsible for tasks and work you're doing throughout the entire vehicle development lifecycle including requirements definition, systems design and implementation, testing, and problem resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience in controls engineering
  • 3+ years of experience in controls engineering
  • Ability to program & troubleshoot PLCs, particularly Rockwell/AB
  • MUST have the ability to work all shifts and overtime as needed
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with line workers, maintenance personnel, and all levels of management
  • Strong follow up and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Understanding of manufacturing and tooling processes
  • Analytical ability and creativity to solve unusual and difficult problems
  • Knowledge of problem solving methodologies (RedX, DFSS, etc)
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams
  • Machine control HMI's/ user interface (Siemens, Allen Bradley/Rockwell)
  • Knowledge of automation/industrial networks (DeviceNet, Ethernet, etc.)
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills – solid background with MS Office suite a must

Nice To Haves

  • Master degree with major in engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in controls engineering
  • 2+ years Stamping experience (preferred)
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing process.
  • MASS, Cybersecurity, E-plan, experience
  • Working level knowledge of the following systems / processes: GVDP (Global Vehicle Development Process)
  • G-Comply, GDHS, Experience with Product Launches
  • Change Management
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills leading cross functional teams
  • Effective at dealing with change and ambiguity

Responsibilities

  • Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements.
  • Program manufacturing technology (PLC’s, HMI’s, robots, etc.).
  • Controls engineering plant floor support (production support, breakdown resolution, line transition assistance, troubleshooting, root causing, press recipe management).
  • Controls engineering projects (small-medium sized plant driven projects where innovation supports making processes better to improve throughput, quality, etc).
  • Propose and implement continuous improvement across the plant floor productive equipment.
  • Contact with partners outside the work group such as participation in safety reviews, TIP meetings, cross shift meetings, etc.
  • Train maintenance & production on equipment functionality.
  • Spare parts management
  • Controls librarian assignments.
  • Drawing/print modification, creation, management, cleanup.
  • SOP, TIS, PTP modification, creation, or engineering resource.
  • WSS champion or contributor, g-Risk & g-Comply engineering resource.
