About The Position

The Controls Engineer supports plant production and quality assurance by maintaining processes and maximizing machine performance, safety, and quality. The role develops and implements statistical process control (SPC) systems, evaluates material advances with E&TS, and develops preventative maintenance for molds and injection molding machines in collaboration with E&TS and machine suppliers. The engineer provides technical support to plant operations, contributes to product and process improvements, supports repairs, and coordinates improvement activity across processes, products, and equipment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering and/or 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Extensive knowledge of the molding process, molding equipment, molding materials, and mold tooling.
• Project management expertise in process improvement and innovation principles.
• Ability to react to situations in a timely manner and be flexible with people and operational assets.
• Ability to anticipate operational problems and act on those intuitions.

Responsibilities

• Assist plant production and quality assurance while maintaining processes and maximizing machine performance, safety, and quality.
• Drive the development and implementation of SPC systems.
• Evaluate and implement material advances in conjunction with E&TS.
• Develop and update preventative maintenance for molds and injection molding machines, working with E&TS and machine suppliers.
• Pursue product and process improvements in existing operations and serve as a resource for mold and equipment repairs.
• Provide ongoing technical support to plant operations to ensure safety, productivity, quality, and delivery performance.
• Assist with component evaluation for new products and new product testing, including new mold and equipment installations.
• Coordinate all Pro-T-Con activity to develop and implement process, product, and equipment improvements in the plant.
• Develop standard operating procedures for molding machines and related equipment.
