About The Position
We are working with a custom machinery manufacturer that builds one-of-a-kind automated systems for industrial clients across North America. This is a high-ownership controls role. You will be responsible for the full controls architecture on each machine — from specification and programming through system integration and on-site commissioning. Every system is different. Every build is hands-on.
Requirements
- Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent experience
- Hands-on PLC programming experience (Rockwell preferred)
- Experience with industrial automation / machinery
- Strong understanding of control systems and system integration
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems
Nice To Haves
- PLC programming experience (Siemens)
- Experience in packaging, conveyors, or capital equipment
Responsibilities
- Program PLCs (Rockwell / Allen-Bradley – CompactLogix)
- Develop and configure HMIs
- Design control schematics using AutoCAD
- Specify hardware (PLCs, VFDs, servos, sensors, safety systems)
- Integrate systems with other machinery and production lines
- Support testing, commissioning, and customer startup (~15% travel)
- Collaborate closely with mechanical engineering team
