About The Position

The Automation Controls Engineer (ACE) role is responsible for planning, specifying, purchasing, and building Automated/Electrical systems (hardware and software) and their components to support production processes and machinery in the facility. This role encompasses project management, technical specifications, design, analysis, installation management, equipment start-up, and production aspects. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 3 years of industrial electrical design experience in manufacturing
  • Experience with electrical design standards and able to complete controls systems designs using standard CAD design tools
  • Experience with Rockwell PLC programming standards & programming software, including GRAFCET, Ladder Logic, and Structured Text.
  • Experience with Variable Frequency drives and Motion Control technologies.
  • Experience with HMI PanelView configuration, programming, and communication.
  • Experience programming and interfacing PLCs with industrial 6 axis robots such as Fanuc, Kawasaki, ABB etc.
  • Working knowledge of CAD systems
  • The ability to work effectively in a cross functional group setting, including essential technical guidance to support Senior Management
  • The ability to work independently, and to lead, coach and mentor others

Nice To Haves

  • SEE electric experience
  • Specific experience with Siemens (PLC programming)
  • Specific experience with Control Techniques, SEW MOVIMOT, and Rockwell (Variable Frequency drives and Motion Control technologies)
  • Knowledge of FactoryTalkView ME Studio (HMI PanelView)

Responsibilities

  • Develops preliminary designs and help establish functional requirements for new devices and systems.
  • Creates estimates and budgets, ensure part and system procurement, oversee the fabrication of electrical equipment, manage vendors and contractors, deliver complete and up-to-date technical documentation.
  • Coordinates installation and startup of projects ranging from minor adjustments to existing machinery to significant expansion projects.
  • Interacts with the operators and maintenance staff and learning every aspect of the procedure by hands-on use of the machinery & procedures.
  • Provide technical support for issue solving and analysis as well as technical experience for the upkeep, modification, and installation of machinery & equipment used in the production process.
  • Involved in all project management activities, such as financial justification, design, vendors/procurement, installation, start-up, qualification, machine acceptance, training for operations & maintenance.
  • Travel as required.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
