About The Position

As an Automation and Controls Engineer(s), you will be responsible for researching, designing, developing and testing automation and controls on new and existing equipment. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Two years of work experience as a Controls Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, or a related occupation.
  • Full-Cycle Automation System Development
  • Experience with Adapting to Multiple PLC Systems, including Allen-Bradley Studio 5000, Beckhoff TwinCAT, and SiemensTIA Portal
  • High-end Motion Control Engineering, including Servo Tuning Theory, Kinematics, Control Loops, and Real-Time Communication
  • Subsystem and Inspection System Integration
  • Experience with Custom HMI/SCADA Design
  • Machine Safety Design, including Knowledge of Regulations, Risk Assessments, and Hardware and Software Safety Categories
  • Experience with Root-Cause Based Rapid Troubleshooting in Live Manufacturing Projects
  • GMP/FDA-Compliant Automation

Responsibilities

  • Integrate a wide range of controls components such as PLCs and SCADA systems, motion controllers, machine vision systems, heater controllers, web edge guiding and steering mechanisms, pneumatic actuators, encoders, force sensors, thermocouples, analog devices, and various location, distance, and material presence sensors.
  • Support electrical control box engineering, standards compliance, assembly, modification, and documentation upkeep.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain revision control of electrical and software changes on large tool sets where the hardware and software must be copied exactly.
  • Develop software to collect data for batch computation and data analytics.
  • Develop and execute test plans to verify machine functionality and reliability.
  • Provide timely and accurate project status, documentation, and training.
  • Troubleshoot down equipment, including finding the root cause of failures and engineering solutions to correct them.
  • Work closely with equipment vendors throughout all phases of a project's development on controls and software requirements and related issues.
  • Support factory expansion efforts, including vendor acceptance testing, equipment commissioning and process qualification.
