About The Position

The Controls Engineer supports ongoing Lonza operations through technical assistance as it relates to the manufacturing and process automation systems. Provides a technical resource to operations customers to ensure that instrumentation and automation systems are designed and operating to meet production needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required (Engineering or Computer Science Strongly preferred; STEM degree is required).
  • 5-10 years of related work experience.
  • Strong proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Emerson DeltaV, Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley), Siemens) and HMI development (e.g., FactoryTalk View, Wonderware).
  • Experience with SCADA systems, data historians (e.g., OSI PI), and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus).
  • Solid understanding of cGMP regulations and GAMP 5 guidelines.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex automation systems and perform root cause analysis.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop technical knowledge on manufacturing equipment and processes automation systems.
  • Support resolution of equipment breakdowns and quality issues in the suites.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and technical analyses on manufacturing equipment and processes automation systems including PI data analyses, review/troubleshooting code, etc.
  • Assist with tech transfer, projects and process improvements as needed.
  • Perform all work safely and meet the requisite training requirements.
  • Initiates change controls and participates in all aspects of the change controls process.
  • Complete change request lot assessments to support lot release.
