About The Position

General Mills, Inc. is seeking a Controls Electrician for its Flour Mill in Buffalo, NY. This role is responsible for supporting, creating, integrating, troubleshooting, and improving various processing/packaging control systems, including Wonderware and PLC. The plant operates 24/7, and the position involves shift rotations, with the ability to work overtime, any shift, including weekends and holidays. Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • 3-5 years (minimum) of industrial electrical maintenance experience, including machine repair and troubleshooting.
  • Must be recognized a Controls Technician by General Mills Buffalo Standards.
  • Electronic knowledge with 480v industrial wiring and troubleshooting experience.
  • PLC programming, troubleshooting and instrumentation.
  • Experience with AB PLC platforms; Servo Control Systems; Robotic Controls Systems.
  • HMI experience, Wonderware or Rockwell Panelview preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces.
  • Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms.
  • Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required.
  • Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions.
  • Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery.
  • Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting, creating, integration, troubleshooting and improving a variety of processing/packaging controls systems including Wonderware, and PLC.
  • Reading and updating electrical and control schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Providing technical support/skills for equipment troubleshooting and controls/equipment modifications.
  • Design and layout circuits, install fixtures, wiring conduits, motors, and other electrical equipment/components.
  • Performing both uptime and downtime preventative electrical maintenance.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to increase platform performance.
  • Assist in training new employees.
