About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, electrical and mechanical engineers, as well as supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. AWS is looking for a System Development Engineer to become part of a global Data Center Engineering team, responsible for the design, development, automation, and continuous innovation within our rapidly expanding and evolving data center footprint. Our Controls Products & Services team takes full product ownership to design, develop, and deliver electrical and mechanical controls systems that programmatically scale compute capacity. As a system development engineer at Amazon you will be working with cross-functional groups throughout the global Data Center Engineering organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems
  • Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
  • Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing

Responsibilities

  • Develop core machine control logic for industrial edge devices (e.g. PLCs, IPCs)
  • Design, simplify and continuously improve system controls architecture including machine control code, networking, electrical design and safety design
  • Identify and implement system optimizations
  • Integrate control systems with a diverse array of sensors, actuators, motors, and software services
  • Work closely with deployment teams to implement end-to-end solutions in the field
