About The Position

The Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) is a University of Texas at Austin-supported semiconductor consortium focused on developing and executing a state-of-the-art 3D Heterogenous Integration manufacturing technology roadmap. TIE provides critical pilot manufacturing capabilities to address national security needs and catalyze domestic economic growth. With significant funding from the US DoD and the state of Texas, TIE is at the forefront of creating cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing equipment and processes. This role is situated in Austin, Texas, and offers the opportunity to contribute to advancements in semiconductor logic, memory, heterogeneous integration, and chip cooling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, or other relevant disciplines.
  • Two years’ experience in electrical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, or other relevant disciplines.
  • Goal-oriented and ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, controls, or other relevant disciplines.
  • Experience working in a research or start-up environment.
  • Prior experience in one or more of the following areas: nanofabrication, precision machine design, mechatronics, systems and controls, instrumentation, optical systems design.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to one or more of controls, instrumentation, custom circuit design, and fabrication for novel semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Assists in researching and procurement of various equipment sub-systems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
