About The Position

The Senior - Controllership Analyst plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data within an organization. This position is responsible for managing financial reporting, conducting detailed analysis, and supporting various accounting functions. The role requires a strong background in accounting, finance, and data analysis, along with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. The Senior Analyst collaborates with cross-functional teams, auditors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies. Additionally, this role contributes to process improvements and operational efficiencies to enhance financial reporting accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business-related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience with accounting, finance or audit.

  • Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business-related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
  • 7+ years of experience in Accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, internal controls, analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience within the financial services or banking industry, with exposure to credit card lending strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with large-scale databases, financial systems, or data-intensive applications.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Essbase, and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; comparable financial reporting or ERP tools may also be considered.
  • Experience supporting or contributing to SEC reporting and regulatory financial reporting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform key reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis to support the closing process.
  • Ensure timely completion of closing activities, including accruals and adjustments.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data to improve reporting accuracy.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and potential risks.
  • Develop reports and presentations to communicate financial insights to leadership.
  • Collaborate with business units to provide data-driven recommendations for financial decision-making.
  • Identify inefficiencies in existing accounting and reporting processes and recommend improvements.
  • Participate in system enhancements, automation initiatives, and finance transformation projects.
  • Implement best practices to streamline workflows and improve financial data accuracy.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP, IFRS, or other applicable standards.
  • Assist in regulatory reporting, ensuring timely and accurate submission of required financial disclosures.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls to uphold financial integrity and mitigate risk.
  • Work closely with other finance, accounting, and operational teams to ensure consistency in financial reporting.
  • Support ad hoc projects and initiatives related to mergers, acquisitions, or system upgrades.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior analysts, fostering professional development within the team.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external auditors, providing documentation and explanations as needed.
  • Support compliance efforts by ensuring adherence to company policies and accounting standards.
  • Work closely with regulators and auditors to address findings and implement corrective actions.
