About The Position

The Controller is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial operations of a privately held organization. This role also serves as the primary liaison for human resources administration and provides strategic financial guidance to executive leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • 7–10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, contracts, and legal documents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, regulatory agencies, financial institutions, and business partners.
  • Strong written communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to calculate percentages, interest, commissions, and other financial metrics.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Ability to define complex problems, analyze information, and develop sound conclusions and recommendations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and interpret technical information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software applications.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Frequent communication and interaction with others.
  • Occasional standing and walking.
  • Close vision and ability to focus on detailed work.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and prepare cash flow projections.
  • Manage organizational cash flow and financial resources.
  • Maintain business insurance programs and related requirements.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements and reports.
  • Analyze and reconcile financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Coordinate human resources administrative functions, including payroll processing and onboarding activities, in partnership with external service providers.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with banks and financial institutions.
  • Advise leadership on insurance coverage and risk management strategies.
  • Lead the budgeting process, including budget development, review, supporting documentation, and financial justification.
  • Monitor tax law changes and recommend operational or financial adjustments as needed.
  • Support the development of financial strategies, objectives, and organizational policies.
  • Assist with annual tax filings and related compliance requirements.
  • Maintain and organize contracts, corporate records, and legal documentation.
  • Provide support for general administrative functions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
