About The Position

Twin Valley Tire is hiring a hands-on Controller to protect the company’s financial integrity and provide ownership and operating leaders with clear, timely financial information. The Controller reports to the Chief Operating Officer, leads the accounting team, and works closely with ownership and leaders across the company’s six locations and business lines. The business includes retail, commercial, agricultural, wholesale, and service operations, each with its own pricing, margins, and costs. The Controller connects financial results to operating decisions, standardizes accounting across locations, and raises issues early. Particular emphasis is placed on inventory: the Controller is expected to manage inventory valuation, freight, rebates, vendor credits, and cost of goods, and to identify and address margin leakage. Success in the role means delivering trusted financial statements and useful analysis by location and business line, surfacing cash, margin, or control concerns in time to act, ensuring consistent accounting practices, and helping the team meet its schedules. Twin Valley Tire serves customers from six locations in South Dakota and Minnesota and sells tires, wheels, and tracks for agricultural, commercial, passenger and light truck, trailer, lawn and garden, and ATV uses, alongside tire and automotive services.

  • A record of improving close reliability, resolving inventory discrepancies, strengthening collections, implementing controls, and developing accounting staff.
  • Expertise in inventory and gross margin, including valuation, freight, rebates, vendor credits, and cost of goods.
  • Strong working-capital management, including receivables, collections, payables, and credit exposure.
  • Practical process-improvement skills across locations.
  • Ability to explain financial issues clearly to leaders without a finance background.
  • Accuracy and integrity, paired with entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Responsiveness, constructive challenge, and willingness to raise risks early.
