About The Position

The Controller is a key financial leader responsible for the overall financial management of the restaurant group. This role oversees all accounting operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong background in restaurant finance, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • At least 2-3 years in a leadership role, specifically within the restaurant or hospitality industry.
  • Deep understanding of restaurant operations, including P&L management, prime cost analysis, and inventory control.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities and a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee all accounting functions, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and all relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Manage and coordinate the annual audit process with external auditors.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process for all restaurant locations.
  • Develop and implement financial models and forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor and analyze budget variances and provide insights and recommendations to management.
  • Implement and maintain robust systems for tracking and controlling food, beverage, and labor costs.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) like prime cost, guest count, and average check to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Work with restaurant managers to optimize operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Establish and enforce strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Oversee compliance with sales tax and other industry-specific regulations.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team.
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with the executive team and restaurant managers to support operational and strategic goals.
