About The Position

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting, costing, and financial reporting activities for the manufacturing operation. This role ensures accurate financial records, strong internal controls, compliant reporting, and actionable financial insights that support operational efficiency, cost management, and strategic decision‑making. The Controller partners closely with operations, supply chain, and leadership to drive profitability and continuous improvement. This position will have the potential to grow into the CFO role. This is an in person, on site role in the corporate office in Lockport, NY.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, required.
  • Superior data entry and data management skills
  • Ability to work well with external vendors and customers and internal departments
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate financial reporting.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating between project teams and stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Oversee general ledger, month‑end close, and financial statement preparation
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Manage external audits, tax filings, and statutory reporting
  • Lead standard cost development and maintenance (BOMs, routings, labor, overhead)
  • Analyze variances (material, labor, overhead, PPV, usage, absorption)
  • Oversee inventory accounting, including WIP, raw materials, and finished goods
  • Ensure accurate inventory valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventories
  • Develop annual budgets and rolling forecasts
  • Partner with operations to align production plans with financial targets
  • Track performance against budget and explain variances with actionable insights
  • Design, implement, and maintain strong internal controls
  • Ensure segregation of duties and adherence to company policies
  • Act as a financial business partner to plant and operations leadership
  • Provide profitability analysis by product, customer, and process
  • Support capital expenditure analysis and ROI evaluations
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives and process improvements
  • Lead, develop, and mentor accounting and finance staff
  • Establish best practices, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Other duties as necessary or assigned.
