About The Position

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Corporate Controller will have responsibility for the accounting function and provide hands-on general accounting operational support for the company. This experienced individual will be both a team leader and individual contributor, with responsibility for all areas relating to accounting, financial reporting, consolidation, general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets, and payroll. In addition, this position will help set accounting policies, design and implement automation of accounting processes, improve procedures and internal controls, and establish and manage international entities and the accounting for these entities. The successful candidate will be able to apply their operational and technical accounting knowledge, and analytical skills to lead a dynamic, highly scalable and efficient, accounting team for a high-growth company. They will ensure timely monthly closes of the general ledger and be responsible for all financial reporting including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, due diligence, and other related reports as required.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business is required with an MBA preferred. Active CPA designation is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Finance and Accounting, with three years as a Corporate Controller in a public company with a successful track record. Experience with a Big 4 or other national accounting firms is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify, manage, and minimize potential risks related to financial reporting across the business to ensure accurate financial statements and timely filings.
  • Continuously improve and enhance processes and compliance with requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) to ensure clean integrated audit as Accelerated Filer.
  • Direct a tight general ledger month-end close process and preparation of monthly-consolidated financial statements, including reconciliation of intercompany accounts. Oversee process to ensure journal entries are accurate. Continually evaluate and optimize the close processes, striving to deliver process automation, improved accuracy, and higher customer service.
  • Lead SEC reporting including quarterly and annual filings (10-Q/10-K).
  • Oversee all aspects of revenue recognition and coordinate closely with the business to ensure adherence to revenue recognition principles.
  • "Own" the Balance Sheet including inventory and fixed assets; fully understand variances to reference points.
  • Oversee all aspects of inventory, cost accounting, and the impact on cost of goods sold.
  • Responsibility for and management of the administration of equity incentive programs with internal and external parties.
  • Interface with the Audit Committee and participate actively in all quarterly committee meetings, leading the discussion around quarterly and annual filings.
  • Partner with accounting team and consultants to ensure internal controls are adequately incorporated, implemented, and adhered to in order to drive accuracy in financial reporting mechanisms, including SOX compliance.
  • Manage annual external audit and partner with CFO and head of SEC Reporting in connection with the external auditor relationship and all contacts with external auditors.
  • Lead the Disclosure Committee for the organization.
  • Supervise, develop, establish, and review goals for the accounting team. Provide leadership in developing functional and staffing needs for accounting team and strengthening staff with a commitment to recruiting, mentoring, and training an effective team.
  • Develop and ensure compliance with comprehensive financial policies for the company.
  • Prepare analysis and presentation materials as needed by the CFO including statements and projections relating to profitability, feasibility, and financial statement impact, including support for Board presentations and analysis in support of investor relations.
  • Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of new/updated systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
  • Support the executive team of the company in driving best practices across the company in corporate governance, ethical standards, and sustainable business practices.
  • Coordinate global policies and drive consistency across regions.
  • Implement managerial functions including goals, reviews, development, and annual planning. Build systems to enable transparent oversight including KPIs, dashboards, and ERP integrations.
  • Work closely with the management team to develop an overall compelling, and strategic vision, evaluate alternative strategies, capitalize on core strengths, and implement operating plans to achieve objectives for growth. Provide hands-on expertise for the current environment and scale for the future.
  • Accountable for the financial management and reporting requirements for accounting teams, including long-range planning and budget management.
