About The Position

Narmi is seeking its first Controller to own accounting end-to-end. This role will work directly with founders and the leadership team, providing the numbers used to run the company. It is a hands-on position within a fast-growing company of approximately 150 people. The Controller will be responsible for the general ledger and the associated work, ensuring financial reporting compliance and building the accounting function.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in accounting.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Experience running a full monthly close as the accountable person, not just as part of a larger team.
  • Experience running an annual audit and serving as the main point of contact for auditors.
  • Experience with ASC 606, particularly with multi-year software or subscription contracts.
  • Experience bringing accounting functions in-house or rebuilding a non-functional close process.
  • Strong writing skills to explain accounting decisions to non-accountants, including founders and the board.

  • Fintech, B2B SaaS, or financial infrastructure background.
  • Experience through a fundraise, acquisition, or audit readiness for a transaction.
  • Experience setting up or migrating a GL or ERP system.

Responsibilities

  • Own the month-end and quarter-end close process from start to finish.
  • Manage the general ledger and ensure financial reporting and GAAP compliance.
  • Handle revenue recognition under ASC 606, including multi-year contracts with implementation fees and annual escalators.
  • Prepare technical accounting memos and make necessary judgment calls.
  • Own the annual audit process from end to end.
  • Manage tax filings, state registrations, and sales tax.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls, building a control environment suitable for a company of this size.
  • Partner with security and compliance teams on financial processes related to SOC 2.
  • Oversee accounting operations, including AP and AR.
  • Manage customer billing for financial institution contracts, including annual increases and true-ups.
  • Process vendor payments and expense reimbursements.
  • Handle cash management and perform account reconciliations.
  • Determine which accounting functions to run in-house versus outsource.
  • Improve accounting processes and tooling, such as close checklists, documentation, and systems, to ensure scalability.
  • Build the accounting function to scale past the initial hire.
