About The Position

SOFFA Electric designs, manufactures, and delivers specialized electrical infrastructure solutions serving utilities, municipalities, public works agencies, and industrial customers. We operate in a highly project-driven environment that combines manufacturing, engineering, and construction execution. We are seeking a hands-on Controller who can lead our accounting function while providing deep expertise in construction accounting, cost accounting, and project financial management. The ideal candidate understands how to translate project activity into accurate financial reporting and can provide leadership with clear visibility into project profitability, WIP, cash flow, and operational performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • 5+ years in construction accounting or project-based accounting environments
  • Extensive experience with WIP reporting
  • Extensive experience with Percentage-of-completion accounting
  • Extensive experience with Revenue recognition
  • Extensive experience with Job costing
  • Extensive experience with Cost accounting
  • Extensive experience with Financial statement preparation
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Proven leadership experience

  • Sage Intacct experience
  • CPA designation
  • Public works or utility infrastructure experience
  • Electrical contracting experience
  • Engineer-to-Order manufacturing experience

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain WIP schedules
  • Oversee percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
  • Manage job costing and project profitability reporting
  • Review project margins and identify financial risks
  • Track retention, progress billings, and change orders
  • Partner closely with Project Managers and Operations
  • Maintain accurate inventory and cost accounting processes
  • Analyze labor, material, and overhead costs
  • Improve costing methodologies and margin reporting
  • Support Engineer-to-Order manufacturing operations
  • Ensure accurate allocation of project and manufacturing costs
  • Lead month-end and year-end close
  • Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements
  • Manage audits and tax support activities
  • Ensure strong internal controls
  • Produce management reporting and KPI dashboards
  • Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts
  • Monitor working capital requirements
  • Improve visibility into project cash cycles
  • Support banking relationships and covenant compliance
  • Lead and develop the accounting team
  • Improve systems, workflows, and reporting processes
  • Drive ERP and accounting system optimization
  • Serve as the financial business partner to ownership and executive leadership
