About The Position

The Controller is responsible for providing consistent leadership and oversight for the overall financial health and operations of the business, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves leading and managing the local accounting and operational team, ensuring the ongoing fiscal health of the business. The Controller will be responsible for the timely preparation of monthly financial statements, P&L, balance sheets, and the management of WIP, inventory, and receivables. They will also create and manage annual budgets, process and report month-end close, and ensure timely reviews and approvals of all balance sheet accounts, including reconciliations. The position directs and/or prepares all financial reports, investigates discrepancies, and ensures timely and accurate corrections. A key aspect of this role is implementing and auditing internal financial controls, assisting leadership with financial decisions, and effectively managing and communicating cash flow issues. The Controller must maintain compliance with all federal and state regulations and provide ongoing supervision, training, coaching, and feedback to improve performance and meet objectives. This includes setting objectives, delegation, and communication based on senior management direction, addressing performance concerns with constructive feedback, and ensuring direct reports comply with safety standards. Regular performance evaluations, formulation of corrective actions, and providing performance updates to senior management are also required. The Controller is responsible for effective hiring and continually searching for process/operational improvements. They will interface with other internal departments to resolve business issues and assist with various duties as requested. The role requires adherence to all company policies and procedures, including safety. Duties may vary by location.

Requirements

2-year college degree with an Accounting / Finance concentration
Minimum of 4 years of related experience.
Excellent computer competency is required, including a minimum of 3-year experience Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook with exceptional experience in spreadsheet management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to communicate in English effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to manage projects and resources.
Ability to work overtime with little notice ; weekends hours may occasionally be required.

Responsibilities

Leads and manages local accounting and operational team ensuring ongoing fiscal health of the business.
Ensures timely preparation of monthly financial statements, P&L, balance sheet as well as management of WIP, inventory, receivables, etc.
Creates and manage annual budgets.
Processes and reports month end close, meeting all deadlines and due dates
Ensures timely reviews and approvals of all balance sheet accounts, including but not limited to monthly bank and general ledger account reconciliations.
Directs and/or prepares all financial reports meeting all due dates and deadlines.
Investigates any discrepancies and ensures that timely and accurate corrections are made.
Implements and continually audits internal financial controls including purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, inventory, and payroll.
Assists leadership with important financial decisions.
Effectively manages and communicates cash flow related issues.
Maintains compliance with all federal and state regulations.
Provides ongoing supervision, training, coaching and feedback to improve performance and meet objectives of all assigned areas to ensure optimal performance.
Provides leadership to designated teams through effective objective setting, delegation, and communication based on direction from senior management.
Addresses issues of concern related to performance providing constructive and ongoing feedback and consequences if performance remains below standards.
Ensures that all direct reports comply with required safety standards and ensure that team members are safety conscious at all times.
Conducts frequent performance evaluations to designated team.
