About The Position

The Controller will be responsible for the company’s accounting, managerial accounting, financial reporting and oversee the financial activities of the company. As head of the accounting department, the controller will manage and supervise all aspects of accounting from payroll to tax compliance. Will drive the development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning as needed. This position also oversees cash management and all insurances, including the company’s health insurance plan.

Requirements

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
7-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous experience as an accountant, accounting supervisor, or manager.
The ability to read, write and comprehend the English language.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk and hear.
The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Excellent computer skills; experience in accounting software and Microsoft Office.
Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices and working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting.
Knowledge of ERP systems and manufacturing environment.
Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations.
Strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of accounting; financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses
Manage the company’s insurance providers; responsible for overseeing 401(k) administrator/financials/tax filings/audits
Maintain a system of accounting policies and operations
Oversee payments of all accounts; ensuring all accounts are paid on time
Oversee all payments made for debts, bank loans, and other large quantities of money
Monitor cash and funding balances; executes wire transfers as required
Keep an organized filing system of all accounts, statements, transactions, payments, and debts
Prepare and organize internal and external financial statements for record and review
Prepare monthly and annual financial reports
Manage the quarterly/annual budgets and forecasts
Advice on financial analyses and decision-making regarding capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with management and CEO
Organize information and statements for audits
Define, benchmark, and implement operational best practices
Complying with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting
Ensuring the company complies with all additional legal and regulatory requirements
Strong understanding of economic and banking processes.
Work closely with Executive Management and provide data vital to the decision-making process.
Evaluate, improve and maintain accounting and internal control systems.
Ad hoc financial reporting/analyses and other duties as assigned.
