About The Position

This is an opportunity to step into a highly visible, hands-on Controller role within a growing, operationally driven organization. The Controller will own the day-to-day accounting function while serving as a key partner to the CFO and leadership team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being in the business, leading a team, improving processes, and helping scale a company in a high-growth environment. The Controller will oversee accounting operations across multiple locations, drive accurate and timely financial reporting, and play a meaningful role in system improvements and operational decision-making.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Controller or senior-level accounting leader
  • Strong technical accounting foundation with hands-on operational experience
  • Background in retail, distribution, or operationally complex environments
  • Experience managing and developing accounting teams
  • Comfortable working on-site and partnering closely with leadership
  • Strong communicator with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
  • Adaptable and open to change in a fast-growing organization

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation
  • Experience with system implementations or ERP transitions
  • Multi-language capability (Spanish, Italian, or Japanese a plus)
  • Willingness to support the business beyond traditional accounting responsibilities
  • Interest in participating in operational initiatives such as trade shows or external events

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day accounting operations, including month-end close, general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and daily banking activities
  • Lead and manage the close process, ensuring timely, accurate, and GAAP-compliant financial statements
  • Oversee accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, refining processes as the organization grows
  • Manage and mentor the accounting team, including payroll and staff accountants
  • Consolidate financials across multiple locations and ensure consistency in reporting
  • Partner closely with operations and leadership to provide financial insight and operational support
  • Support ERP usage and upcoming system changes, including process improvements and implementations
  • Collaborate with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives
  • Assist with audit preparation and coordination as needed
  • Maintain a hands-on presence in the office and foster strong cross-functional relationships
