The Controller will be responsible for recruiting and retaining exceptional accounting associates, determining department efficiencies, and managing the appropriate size of the accounting team. This role involves developing and mentoring staff with a focus on internal promotion, identifying and resolving performance issues, and establishing effective interdepartmental communication protocols. The Controller will also provide proactive and responsive communication to clients and associates, establish and communicate expectations and goals, and identify job duties, work schedules, and training needs for the accounting team. This position reports to the Director of Investment Accounting and/or department leadership. Key responsibilities include the development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information, maintaining the company’s system of accounts, and providing effective financial controls. The role also involves managing and coordinating external and internal audits, retail reporting, and ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements, EOM procedures, A/P and A/R reconciliations, and month-end close processes. Additionally, the Controller will manage cash management, act as a liaison with clients regarding cash status, and handle special projects and other assigned duties. Recommendations and modifications regarding office performance and business needs will also be part of the role.
