About The Position

We are looking for a strategic and detail-driven Controller to lead the financial operations for multiple dealerships within the Saint John region. This is a highly visible leadership role with accountability for financial reporting, operational insight, and building a strong accounting team. The right person will bring a sharp financial mind, strong business acumen, and the ability to partner with operational leaders to support performance across the organization.

Requirements

Post-secondary education in Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within the automotive industry or a multi-location business environment.
Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach, develop, and motivate a team.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong overall MS Office skills.
Ability to quickly learn new systems and financial platforms.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to translate financial insights into meaningful business conversations.

Nice To Haves

Experience with HRIS or dealership systems is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Lead all financial operations for multiple dealerships including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, deal postings, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial statements and operational reporting.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including year-end preparation and coordination.
Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Provide financial insights and guidance to dealership leadership to support operational performance and profitability.
Coach, develop, and lead the accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Collaborate closely with department managers and dealership leadership to support day-to-day business operations.
Partner with Steele Auto Group’s Corporate Finance team to ensure consistent reporting standards and strong communication.
Travel between locations as required.
