About The Position

Universal Health Services (UHS) is a leading hospital and healthcare services provider, recognized as a Fortune 500® corporation with significant annual revenues and a strong reputation for admired companies. UHS operates a vast network of acute care hospitals, behavioral health facilities, and other healthcare services across multiple states and internationally. This Controller position will support two hospitals in the Henderson, Nevada market: Henderson Hospital, a 303-bed facility known for its comprehensive medical and surgical services and national recognition for patient safety, and West Henderson Hospital, a 150-bed acute care hospital offering 24/7 emergency care, advanced cardiac and interventional procedures, and supported by in-house laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and therapy departments. The Controller role is designed to develop individuals for future Executive Financial leadership within UHS, offering exposure to revenue cycle management, expense control, business development through financial modeling, and operational budgeting. The position involves ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for assigned facilities, assisting CFOs with budget preparation, conducting monthly operating reviews, and managing special projects.

Requirements

  • Five years plus progressive experience in a financial capacity at a health care facility.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Computer hardware/software skills required.
  • Bachelors degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Medical Records (HIM), Business Office, Materials Management and Accounting departments preferred.
  • CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the hospital market CFO by ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of financial information for assigned facilities.
  • Assists CFOs in annual operational budget preparation for market entities.
  • Prepares and conducts departmental Monthly Operating Reviews.
  • Conducts monthly financial statement and operational reviews, to ensure the accuracy and integrity, for market entities.
  • Manages revenue cycle processes including net revenue, statistics, CDM development, revenue daily reconciliations, payer reimbursement, contractuals/discounts, DNFB/unbilled, and cash collection.
  • Participates in business development by preparing pro formas and completing lookbacks to assess investment performance.
  • Manages various special projects as assigned by Market CFO, including changes in financial reporting requirements, acquisitions, dispositions, and other requests.
