About The Position

The Louis Riel Capital Corporation (LRCC) is a Manitoba Métis Federation-owned financial institution created to provide personal and commercial financial services for Red River Métis Citizens and businesses. LRCC seeks to fill one full-time Controller position located at 333 Main Street in Winnipeg, MB. The Controller is responsible for assisting with and performing various full-cycle accounting functions, financial reporting, and analysis. The salary range for this position is $92,000-$130,000 annually dependent on education and experience combined.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline with a CPA Designation is required
  • 7 years’ of experience in progressive accounting or finance is required
  • Must have experience in a leadership role, overseeing staff and departmental functions
  • Extensive experience in drafting correspondence and preparing reports
  • Acceptable Enhanced Criminal Record Check and Credit Check is required
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in public accounting or a regulated environment is an asset
  • ERP implementation or system conversion experience an asset
  • Experience working with Boards and/or committees is preferred
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and LRCC programs and services is a definite asset

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
  • Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate audits and act as the primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors
  • Prepare and monitor budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships
  • Oversee revenue recognition and expense allocation processes
  • Support system implementations, upgrades, and process improvements
  • Partner with senior leadership to improve financial performance and operational efficiency
