About The Position

Blazer Modular Construction has been delivering high-quality volumetric modular buildings across the Pacific Northwest and beyond for 50 years. We are seeking a Controller to lead our accounting operations and serve as a key financial partner to leadership and operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a project-based, manufacturing, or construction environment and wants to play a meaningful role in driving financial performance and operational insight. You'll ensure financial accuracy and compliance, and help turn financial data into decisions that improve cost control, margins, and long-term business outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including accounting leadership.
  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, or project-based industries.
  • Strong background in job costing, WIP, and revenue recognition.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Cost accounting and operational finance expertise.
  • Advanced Excel and ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).
  • Ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
  • High integrity, accountability, and strong communication skills.

  • CPA or CMA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Financial Operations: Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process. Deliver accurate, timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Maintain general ledger integrity and oversee audits.
  • Drive Cost & Operational Insight: Oversee job costing, WIP, and revenue recognition. Analyze production costs, labor, and margins. Partner with operations to improve cost visibility and pricing decisions.
  • Support Strategic Planning: Lead budgeting processes. Provide variance analysis and financial modeling.
  • Ensure Controls & Compliance: Maintain internal controls, policies, and regulatory compliance. Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and lenders.
  • Manage Cash & Capital: Oversee cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships.
  • Lead & Improve: Develop and lead the accounting team (AP/AR). Drive system improvements, process efficiency, and automation.
