About The Position

AscellaHealth is seeking a Controller to manage the integrity of the Company's accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting systems. The role oversees day-to-day accounting activities, leads monthly close and consolidation processes, ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP, and serves as the primary accounting contact for external auditors. The Controller partners with finance and operational leaders on business growth initiatives, acquisitions, reorganizations, and other strategic initiatives, while driving process improvements, strengthening financial controls, and enhancing reporting through automation and technology. The position manages a team of four and helps develop a scalable accounting organization to support the Company's growth. This is a hybrid role requiring three days per week in the office at AscellaHealth's Berwyn, Pennsylvania office. AscellaHealth is a mission-driven global healthcare company focused on challenges across the specialty and retail pharmaceutical ecosystem, partnering with payers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and other healthcare stakeholders to improve access to critical therapies.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or four-year equivalent, with a major in business, accounting, or finance.
At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or finance.
Significant knowledge of accounting, finance, and financial control principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Demonstrated experience leading and managing an accounting function and a team of finance professionals.
Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities.
Excellent analytical skills and ability to provide solutions to complex problems.
Detail-oriented approach and ability to switch between job responsibilities quickly and seamlessly.

Proficiency in financial management systems, including Dynamics 365 Business Central, accounting software, and Power BI or other financial reporting and dashboard tools.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and especially Excel.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in the pharmacy or pharmaceutical industry.
Professional certification such as a CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant).

Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and related financial activities.
Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including review of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, workpapers, and analysis of profit and loss and balance sheet variances.
Oversee accounting and financial reporting across multiple legal entities, including intercompany accounting and consolidation activities.
Research, interpret, and apply U.S. GAAP guidance, including assessing complex transactions such as acquisitions, reorganizations, revenue recognition matters, software capitalization, and new business initiatives.
Design, implement, and enhance internal controls and accounting processes to support accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
Coordinate and lead external audits, including ownership of audit support schedules, workpapers, auditor requests, and resolution of audit findings.
Serve as a key business owner for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and related financial systems, ensuring data integrity, process efficiency, and effective reporting.
Lead reporting and process automation initiatives through Power BI, Business Central, and other technologies to improve efficiency, scalability, and data quality.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve the quality, consistency, and timeliness of financial information.
Lead accounting integration, reporting, and process requirements associated with acquisitions, reorganizations, new entities, and business growth initiatives.
Coach, develop, and evaluate accounting team members to build organizational capability, strengthen performance, and support succession planning.
Lead ad hoc financial analyses, due diligence activities, and special finance projects as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned or necessary, remaining flexible and adaptable in work schedules and assignments according to departmental and organizational needs.
