About The Position

CARE Canada is seeking a Controller, Financial Services to oversee financial operations and financial transaction management. This position will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial records for the organization, appropriate internal controls are in place and functioning as expected, timely payments, and efficient financial operations. In addition, the Controller will manage the year end audit and, in collaboration with the Director, Corporate Finance, will prepare external financial statements. Finally, the Controller will also be responsible to ensure compliance with various regulatory requirements related to the financial management of the organization. This position requires strong financial acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in financial management and accounting, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting, fund accounting, and project-based financial management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., PeopleSoft, Excel).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with different departments.
  • Commitment to CARE's mission and values.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or similar certification is a plus (or equivalent combination of education and work experience).
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees financial operations and financial transaction management.
