About The Position

Kymeta is seeking a hands-on Controller / Director of Accounting to lead accounting and serve as a trusted partner to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The role leads core accounting operations and ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with applicable accounting standards. It also translates financial results into actionable insights to support planning, forecasting, and business decisions. The position is suited to an experienced accounting leader with a strong ownership mentality, people-management skills, and the ability to lead with urgency, sound judgment, and accountability. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborate across functions, improve processes, and develop a high-performing team, with the opportunity to broaden their capabilities through direct CFO mentorship. The Controller / Director of Accounting reports to the Chief Financial Officer. Kymeta delivers intelligent, resilient communications and RF solutions for mission-critical operations in national security, government, and commercial markets across land and maritime applications.

Requirements

At least four years of external audit experience with a top-six public accounting firm.
Six or more years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including the required public accounting audit experience and demonstrated people-management experience.
Strong command of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), technical accounting, internal controls, financial reporting, and external audit requirements.
Experience supporting FP&A activities, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and variance analysis.
Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems.
Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver accurate results under tight deadlines.
Strong judgment and attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to finance and non-finance stakeholders.
Ability to identify opportunities for improvement, constructively challenge existing processes, and drive initiatives through completion.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university.
Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.

Experience in technology, advanced manufacturing, telecommunications, aerospace, or defense industries.

Responsibilities

Oversee the general ledger, consolidation, accounts payable, billing, accounts receivable, payroll, inventory accounting, reconciliations, and monthly and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Prepare and review financial statements, cash flow reporting, close analyses, and management reporting.
Support reporting requirements for investors, the Board of Directors, and the Audit Committee.
Research and document complex accounting matters; maintain accounting policies and internal controls; identify potential issues early and drive timely resolution.
Manage the external audit and coordinate tax compliance, R&D tax credits, statutory reporting, and relationships with external advisors.
Partner with the CFO and stakeholders on budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, operating metrics, variance analysis, and financial decision support while retaining primary ownership of accounting.
Identify and implement process-improvement and automation opportunities.
Support finance-related ERP enhancements, including Oracle Fusion where applicable.
Manage, coach, and develop accounting staff; establish clear expectations and accountability; and foster ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with Legal, HR, IT, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales Operations, and program teams to support business objectives and sound financial processes.
Analyze financial and operational issues, constructively challenge assumptions, communicate clear recommendations, and lead priority initiatives with limited direction.
