About The Position

EOI Space is building a next-generation satellite constellation in Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) to deliver the highest-resolution Earth imagery available from space. Flying lower than traditional satellites lets us capture sharper, more timely data, giving commercial and defense customers a clearer picture of a rapidly changing world, faster than ever before. Based in Lafayette, Colorado, we’re a small, mission-driven team moving fast to bring this capability to market. As we scale toward Series B and beyond, we’re looking for people who want real ownership over their function and see the undefined parts of this stage as the opportunity, not the obstacle. We are seeking an experienced Controller and Director of Finance to lead our Accounting and Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) functions. In this player/coach role, you’ll oversee day-to-day operations across both functions, partner with our CFO on strategic financial matters, and manage a small but growing accounting team, while working closely with our outside consulting firm on accounting close, reconciliations, and tax matters. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer. This is a full-time, exempt, in-office position based in Lafayette, Colorado.

Requirements

CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification required, Audit experience preferred
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
8+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including at least 3–4 years in a controller, accounting manager, or comparable leadership role
Prior experience as a Director or Controller in a manufacturing, hardware, or other hands-on operational environment (aerospace/defense a plus- see below)
Hands-on experience with manufacturing accounting, including inventory valuation methods (FIFO, weighted average, standard costing, etc.), landed cost accounting, and production work order systems.
Strong expertise in inventory management controls, physical inventory procedures, cycle counting, and reconciliation to the general ledger.
Demonstrated experience establishing or improving Procure-To-Pay, Fixed Assets, and manufacturing accounting processes.
Demonstrated experience managing accounting teams and mentoring junior staff.
Deep expertise in general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, treasury, and month-end/quarter-end close processes.
Hands-on experience with financial planning & analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Strong experience with ERP systems (NetSuite or other first-tier ERP strongly preferred).
Proficiency in Excel (advanced skills required) and demonstrated ability to leverage AI and data tools for analysis and reporting.
Strong understanding of accounting controls, audit requirements, GAAP compliance, and manufacturing accounting standards; experience supporting external audits.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence cross-functional partners and present financial information to non-financial audiences.
Strategic mindset combined with attention to detail; proven ability to balance hands-on execution with big-picture thinking.
Comfort working in a fast-paced, scaling environment with ambiguity and changing priorities.

Nice To Haves

Background working with growth-stage venture-backed companies through Series A/B fundraising rounds.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing strategic direction, mentorship, and performance management across both accounting and FP&A functions.
Own the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function, including budget development, monthly/quarterly forecasting, variance analysis, and strategic financial modeling to support executive decision-making and capital planning.
Direct accounting operations in partnership with Kruze Consulting, ensuring accurate monthly/quarterly close, full documentation, strong controls, and timely financial reporting.
Assess outsourced activities currently managed by third-party firms, identifying opportunities to insource, automate, or optimize based on cost, quality, and strategic fit; evaluate and recommend other accounting services providers as the organization's needs evolve.
Lead process improvement and controls initiatives with emphasis on Procure-To-Pay (P2P), Fixed Assets management, and Inventory Control & Reporting, including physical audits and reconciliations to the general ledger to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and audit readiness.
Own manufacturing accounting operations: inventory valuation (Weighted Average, Landed Cost, etc.), physical inventory controls and cycle counting, production work order accounting for flight satellites and custom tools, and cost variance analysis.
Lead accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management and forecasting processes; ensure payroll is processed accurately and in alignment with company policies.
Own tax planning and strategy partnerships with Kruze Consulting, including quarterly tax planning, R&D credit identification, equity accounting, and audit support.
Manage equity reconciliation between Carta and NetSuite, ensuring accurate and timely reflection of cap table activity, stock issuances, and equity accounting in the financial records.
Create and deliver financial reports and analysis for executive team, board, and investors; prepare materials supporting Series B fundraising efforts, with particular emphasis on manufacturing cost analysis and inventory valuation disclosures.
Design and implement financial controls, processes, and systems to support scaling; identify and drive improvements in efficiency and accuracy across accounting and FP&A functions.
Serve as primary interface with Kruze Consulting and external auditors; coordinate all third-party accounting and tax relationships, ensuring full audit readiness and GAAP compliance.
Ensure audit readiness by maintaining documentation, implementing controls, and responding to audit information requests, with particular focus on manufacturing accounting, inventory controls, and cost allocation methodologies.
Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, and HR on financial analysis, headcount planning, cost management, project accounting, and production work order tracking.
Stay current with accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry best practices relevant to aerospace and software-enabled companies, including manufacturing cost accounting and inventory valuation standards.
