About The Position

HTM Contractors, Inc. is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Controller / Accounting Manager to lead their accounting department. This role involves ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and providing financial leadership across all HTM Group companies. The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment and enjoys building efficient systems and developing people.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required).
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience with construction accounting, job costing, and WIP reporting strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience leading month-end close and financial statement preparation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supervising and developing accounting staff.
  • Proficient with accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems and financial reporting tools preferred.
  • High attention to detail with exceptional accuracy.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple companies and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the accounting department across all HTM Group companies.
  • Deliver accurate monthly financial statements by the 10th business day.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Review work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and job costing.
  • Review inventory valuations and costing.
  • Review and reconcile intercompany transactions.
  • Review journal entries and month-end adjustments.
  • Coordinate with external CPA firms, tax preparers, auditors, and bonding companies.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax requirements, and company financial policies.
  • Maintain and update the 13-week cash flow forecast.
  • Review accounts receivable aging weekly and identify collection priorities.
  • Review accounts payable aging and payment schedules.
  • Monitor liquidity, working capital, and overall cash position.
  • Provide financial insight to support business decisions.
  • Maintain strong accounting controls and financial processes.
  • Approve new vendors and payment batches.
  • Review account reconciliations for accuracy.
  • Ensure proper segregation of duties and financial accountability.
  • Improve accounting processes and internal procedures as the company grows.
  • Lead the weekly Accounting Level 10 (L10) Meeting.
  • Maintain the Accounting Department Scorecard.
  • Coach, develop, and hold accounting team members accountable.
  • Create, improve, and maintain accounting standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Support continuous process improvement across all accounting functions.
